UNBOUNDED
Independent concept · 2026
UNBOUNDED turns adaptation into an interactive atlas. One sculptural field changes with Formula One, endurance and rally-raid, connecting championship campaigns, shared achievements and new disciplines through a single editorial idea.

One driver. Different rules.
Self-initiated / unofficial portfolio concept
Fernando Alonso’s career offered a different organising idea: the rules change, but the driver continues to adapt. The challenge was to express that breadth without allowing endurance, Indianapolis or Dakar to obscure Formula One and the two championship campaigns at the centre of the story.
UNBOUNDED takes the form of an interactive atlas. One continuous sculptural surface crosses a monumental archival portrait. Selecting Formula One, endurance or rally-raid changes the field’s relief, light and explanation. It is an original editorial landscape, not a geographical map or reconstructed race data. Dark petrol, limestone and a restrained oxide accent give it a tactile character, supported by wide Archivo headlines and IBM Plex Sans.
Navigation unfolds as a large field legend. It uses named destinations and contextual lines rather than moving the camera into portals. A horizontal gesture offers an additional way to change the selected discipline; vertical scrolling stays native, and equivalent buttons remain available.
The six-page structure gives each part of the career a clear role. Formula One compares the 2005 and 2006 title campaigns. Shared Distance combines endurance stories, crew names and an illustrative day-to-night light control. New Rules explains different disciplines without turning participation into a victory. Field Notes brings the photographic record into a filterable full-image gallery. Where suitable event photography was not verified, labelled original illustrations make the distinction visible.
My contribution covered concept, art direction, information architecture, interactions and development, with AI-assisted research and implementation. Static HTML, CSS and JavaScript ES modules work with a self-hosted Three.js engine. Fonts, photographs and supporting assets are served with the site; no runtime API, analytics or CDN is required.
Pause and reduced-motion options retain the selections, stories and gallery. The recorded review covers all six pages at desktop and emulated mobile widths, three scene modes, native menu and focus, title and story selections, gallery controls, horizontal touch input and vertical scrolling. Core content was also checked without JavaScript or WebGL. This is documented browser coverage, not a physical-device test or accessibility certification.
The published result demonstrates how one editorial idea can shape a site’s architecture, visual system and interaction vocabulary. It is a self-initiated, unofficial concept, with no claimed commission or endorsement. Eight credited photographs retain their original contexts and Creative Commons licences; the hero portrait is visibly identified as Daytona 2018. No commercial-performance claims are attached to the work.
